QUESTION: Dear Raj, I suffer from anal fissure recurrently for over 12 years and still cannot find a cure or medication, therefore, I would really appreciate your help in providing me with a cure or medication I can use to treat this chronic problem. Your help is highly appreciated. Regards, Mr.R
ANSWER: Dear Mr R, Anal fissures are painful, embarrassing and inconvenient. They can bleed and makes sitting and passing stool very painful. It is caused by trying to pass hard, large stools, which in turn are caused by bad diet or constipation caused due to poor intestinal mobilization (in most cases).Sometimes, diarrhea and rectal irritation are also culprits.
Add more fiber into your diet as this enables looser stools. Oat barn, wheat (not greatly processed / bleached) with honey and yoghurt can be consumed every morning as breakfast.
Fruits, vegetables and whole grains are the best remedy and preventive measure for fissures.
Most fissures heal in a few weeks but your case is surely more complicated than that. Home remedies that help are warm water baths (sitz baths) for 20 minutes a day, drinking plenty of water to help keep your stools soft, avoiding spicy, fried foods.
I am sure that in these 12 years you have certainly tried several medications and much more than what I have mentioned above.
Honestly, I believe that Homeopathic remedies will be of great help. I may need to review your constitution and symptoms in detail and also your diet through a weekly diet sheet to identify any areas that need attention.
Also some yogasanas like Dhanurasana, Sethubandasana and Trikonasana will help you achieve greater control over your body, increase intestinal strength and help speeded the recovery. Surgery may not be necessary and Homeopathic remedies can help avoid surgery.
