No malice towards rioters: Indian-origin shop-owner

London: An Indian-origin shopkeeper in London, who lost 200,000 pounds in riots earlier this week, says he bears no ill will towards the looters who “swept in like a human tsunami” and “like a plague of locusts”.

“If I had the chance to speak to them I would make them tea and ask them why,” 79-year-old Brij Sehgal said.

Sehgal owns an electrical goods shop since the 1960s near Ealing Broadway in west London. Rioters emptied his store of plasma screen TVs and DVD players in a matter of minutes.

“I’m not angry because that is a very negative emotion and I want to look forward, not back,” Sehgal said.

“They swept in here like a human tsunami, like a plague of locusts sweeping everything before them.”

“I’m determined to keep going and rebuild because of the love and affection I have received from people on this street since it happened,” he said.

One person has been arrested in connection with the looting of his shop. (IANS)
