It’s Gogh Time For Highly Anticipated The Lume

The reopening of the arts: Doors open 1st November to THE LUME Melbourne’s long awaited VAN GOGH experience.

With Melbourne’s renowned arts and culture scene reopening post-lockdown, Australia’s and the Southern Hemisphere’s first permanent digital gallery, THE LUME Melbourne, will throw open its much-anticipated doors on 1st November with VAN GOGH.

Permanently housed at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), the premiere experience for THE LUME Melbourne, proudly presented by Lexus, is an epic adventure into the life and vibrant works of Vincent van Gogh.

The impact of COVID has been felt by all Melbournians and we are so pleased to be able to celebrate our city’s reopening with a bang. The Vincent van Gogh experience could not be a more iconic way to kick off Melbourne’s beloved arts scene,” says Owner and Founder of Grande Experiences and THE LUME Melbourne, Bruce Peterson.

THE LUME Melbourne transforms the world’s finest art into fully immersive sensory encounters. Imagine the vivid colours and intricate details of world-renowned artworks coming to life all around you while a symphony of light, sounds, aromas and tastes create an awe-inspiring multi-sensory experience.

Set within a 3,000 square metre, 11-metre high digital art gallery, THE LUME Melbourne transcends space and time as you accompany Van Gogh on a thrilling immersive journey into his world. There are no time limits and no set paths; your journey is entirely up to you.

Central to THE LUME Melbourne’s uniquely immersive experience is the evocatively themed Café Terrace 1888, which can be found right inside the main gallery space.

Indulge your senses with small bites, light meals, share plates, children’s dishes, and rich desserts featuring alongside a comprehensive selection of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages.

As a contactless experience, with a robust COVID-safe plan in place including timed entry, capacity limits, masks, social distancing and double-vaccinated staff, THE LUME Melbourne offers a safe way for visitors to immerse themselves in a world of art after a long-awaited hiatus.

With the last 18 months weighing heavy on the arts industry, there is no better way to celebrate the end of lockdowns than with a visit to Melbourne’s newest cultural attraction.

“I can’t think of a better way to reopen our doors, than to host an event that will be so impactful in driving economic impact and attracting visitors to our city,” says Peter King CEO of Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

THE LUME Melbourne is sure to create a memorable experience for every visitor that comes through our doors. After a long few years, it’s so great to see our venue coming back to life with the sights, sounds and smells of this immersive event.”

THE LUME Melbourne is open seven days a week, 364 days a year. Prices start from $39* for adults, with free admission for children under four. With increased capacity limits confirmed, new tickets have been released so book quickly as sessions are expected to sell out.
