COVID-19 Update – Stage 3 and 4
A state of disaster has been declared in Victoria with changes impacting both metropolitan and regional Victoria. Following are the changes in relation to wedding ceremonies and funerals as declared by the Victorian government.
In Metropolitan Victoria, Stage 4 restrictions to be applied. A nightly curfew from 8pm to 5am applies effective, 2 August 2020 for next 6 weeks. Wedding ceremonies will not be permitted from 11:59pm, Wednesday, 5 August (except for compassionate reasons). Funerals with 10 mourners plus those conducting the funeral will only be permitted from 6:00pm, Sunday, 2 August 2020. Attending a funeral is a permitted reason to leave home and also to leave the metropolitan Melbourne area.
In Regional Victoria, Stage 3 restrictions to be applied which means, wedding ceremonies with only five people (couple, 2 witnesses and celebrant) will be permitted from 11:59pm, Wednesday, 5 August 2020. Funerals with only ten people plus those conducting the funeral will be permitted from 11:59pm, Wednesday, 5 August 2020. Attending a wedding or funeral in regional Victoria is a valid reason for leaving home. Attending a funeral is a valid reason for entering metropolitan Melbourne.
