Scientists, including one of Indian-origin, have developed a computer software that can decode brain signals and read people’s thoughts with almost 96% accuracy in real time.
“Clinically, you could think of our result as a proof of concept towards building a communication mechanism for patients who are paralysed or have had a stroke and are completely locked-in,”said Rajesh Rao, a neuroscientist. The study involved seven epilepsy patients of Harborview Medical Centre in US.
The technique is a stepping stone for brain mapping, in that it could be used to identify in real time which locations of the brain are sensitive to types of information, Rao said. (PTI)
