A powerful and efficient 2.0-litre direct fuel injection turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 179kW and 353Nm, paired with a refined eight-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels, is the standard powertrain for the G70 sports sedan.

A 3.3-litre direct fuel injection, twin-turbocharged V6 producing 272kW and 510Nm is also offered, for those truly high-performance focused customers, and is also teamed with an eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive.

A Drive Mode system lets the driver select from Smart, Eco, Comfort, Sport and Custom settings.

The Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension (GACS) is standard in G70 3.3T variants and incorporates Dynamic Stability Damping Control (DSDC) and Electronic Control Suspension (ECS), the latter utilising continuously variable dampers with the ability to intelligently adjust compression and rebound forces up to 100 times per second.

Genesis G70 features an Australian-specific chassis tune, which includes suspension and steering settings, developed over thousands of kilometres of local testing on a range of surfaces, including urban roads, highways, mountain passes and gravel country roads.

The G70’s local Australian tuning builds on extensive global testing, from the R&D centre in Namyang, Korea, to Germany’s infamous Nurburgring and the temperature extremes of Death Valley in the United States and Arjeplog in Sweden.

G70’s standard Genesis Active Safety Control suite includes Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian detection and lane-change oncoming function, and High Beam Assist systems.

There are also Lane Keeping Assist with line/road-edge functions, a Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning system and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, as well as a Surround View Monitor (Ultimate models only), Forward/Reverse Parking Distance Warning, a Rear View Monitor with parking guidance, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

Seven airbags as standard complete an exceptionally safe package, incorporating:

  • Driver and front passenger airbags
  • Driver and front passenger side (thorax & pelvis) airbags
  • A driver knee airbag
  • And side curtain (full length) airbags

A horizontal layout heightens the sense of space in the cabin, while the presentation of the driver-oriented large touchscreen multimedia interface and climate control system is intuitive and appealing.

Soft touch materials feature throughout the cabin, and the application of aluminium and stainless steel trims, suede, and Nappa leather upholstery create a sense of occasion in the Genesis G70.

G70 is offered with a large range of choice in nine exterior colours, with six different interior colours to choose from, allowing each customer to personalise the G70 to suit their individual preferences.

G70 is offered with a choice of two powerful and efficient powertrains. The 2.0T variants will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline 4 cylinder engine, producing smooth 179kW and a potent 353Nm.

Technologies such as Turbo-Gasoline Direct injection (T-GDi) with the Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) reduce fuel consumption and emissions and to improve engine power and throttle response.

A single, twin-scroll turbocharger is complemented by a Variable intake-Charge Motion system (VCM) to provide efficient performance at low engine speeds.

The Euro 5 emissions compliant 2.0 T-GDi is calibrated to run on 95 RON premium unleaded petrol and uses 8.7L/100km on the official combined cycle.

For performance-oriented customers, G70 is also offered with a powerful 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine developing 272kW and 510Nm.

The 3.3T engine features Turbo-Gasoline Direct injection (T-GDi) and Dual-Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) to maximize fuel efficiency and provide crisp responsiveness.

The twin, single-scroll turbochargers provide efficient performance at low engine speeds and the Tuned Intake System (TIS) also improves low rpm torque to the benefit of fuel efficiency and engine performance.

Both the 3.3 T-GDi and 2.0 T-GDi engines feature clever technologies such as an electronically operated coolant thermostat and an electronically controlled turbocharger wastegate actuator, in additional 3.3 T-GDi engines also feature an electronically operated variable oil pump.

The Euro 5 emissions compliant 3.3 T-GDi is calibrated to run on 95 RON premium unleaded petrol and uses 10.2L/100km on the official combined cycle.

An Eco Coasting function featured in all 3.3T variants, when active, and at speeds between 55 and 160km/h, improves G70’s fuel efficiency by coasting in neutral in the ‘Eco’ and ‘Smart’ Drive Modes.

In every G70 variant, a lightweight aluminium, in-house developed 8-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly to deliver power to the rear wheels with refinement and efficiency.

G70 2.0 T-GDi variants further benefit from a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) torque converter, which brings greater shift comfort and improved fuel efficiency.

A Shift By Wire (SBW) gear lever allows easy shifting, and is teamed with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters to give the driver optimal control.

G70 features an all-aluminium differential casing and state-of-the-art laser welding of the ring gear assembly to further assist in weight saving.

The 2.0T Sport and all 3.3T variants feature a mechanical multi-plate clutch-type Limited Slip Differential (LSD), which provides a more efficient apportioning of torque across the rear axle to deliver responsive and agile handling during sporty driving.
