New Delhi: A huge fund of USD 150 million would be created to give a boost to Indian golf industry in the coming years. This announcement came at the conclusion of the fourth Asia Golf Industry Show.
AGCOA Director General of India, Anil Dev, whose company is the show promoter, made the announcement as over 95 leading brands from across the world dealing with the golf industry showcased their products, from equipment to green, at the three-day exhibition.
Anil Dev said India will soon see a huge improvement in golf, both as a sport and industry.
“As per our research more than 150 projects would be undertaken in the next 10 years, including development of resort golf courses, which is totally absent from the Indian golf scenario.
“We look at golf as a sport only but if you dig deeper you would realise that golf is a green goldmine waiting to be discovered. You would be surprised to know that 71 per cent of the world’s golf equipment is manufactured in China. India has a highly developed auto industry which would easily be able to manufacture and export Golf equipment,” he said.
Meanwhile, The Asia Golf Industry Show also held a two-day conference attended by more than 500 golf course owners and operators, club management staffs, superintendents and golf professionals.
