Bhutan to have first Hindu temple

Guwahati: The royal kingdom of Bhutan will soon have its first Hindu temple. The foundation for the temple was recently laid in Thimphu.

As per an official release, the foundation stone laying ceremony was held at Kuenselphondrang. The foundation ceremony was attended by many dignitaries like the national assembly speaker and ministers in Bhutan’s capital city.

The temple will be built on an area of 2.53 acres. The Hindu temple will have touches of Buddhist architecture and will organise festivals and marriage ceremonies.

Bhutan’s Hindu statesman Rajan Zed said, the temple is being built to attend to the needs of more than 10,000 Hindus living in the Himalayan kingdom.
